Chassiers dates
back to the 12th century. It has several churches and chapels
listed as historic monuments which testify to its association
with various monastic orders and with the Blue Penitents.
It is listed as a French 'Village of Character'. Built
on the hills above Largentiere it was originally built
to protect the silver mines in the valley below.
It offers close proximity to the main sites of the Ardeche,
including the Gorge de l'Ardeche, is close to the historic
towns of Balazuc, Largentiers, Aubenas and the spa town
of Val Les Bains. It is within the Ardeche National Park.
All activities are within easy reach.
Only 2 hours from the meditteranean it is an also an ideal
base from which to explore the rest of the south of France. |
